Hope everyone is experiencing beauty and peace in all you do... The reason I'm writing is that I'm about to make a trek out to San Francisco to join several other didge players in a concert and am going to drive. I've got a 2001 Jeep Cherokee that gets 18 MPG (and already has 170 thousand miles on it). It's a reliable car but I really should buy tires before making the 3500 mile trip (to be really safe, that is). So I was thinking of my options and it occurred to me that I may be able to rent a car that would be big enough to get several didges in, and would be much more fuel efficient in than my jeep. I figure I'd need to find an car that I could rent for under $30/day that got at least 34 mpg to break even. I guess I'd love feedback if any of you have any experience with such things. I am a long time member of www.hotwire.com and have gotten good rental rates in the past from them but I'm open to other ideas as hotwire doesn't really let you get very make/model specific in your choosing. They just let you choose a car type and then give you the best price in that type class. Thanks for your time and I really do hope all are well on their journeys... In the last few years I've made several road trips between Boulder and the SF Bay Area, and I have a few ideas. If your Jeep needs tires now, it will still need tires if you go to the expense of renting a car, so I would factor that into the cost. You're a tall guy and any rental car that gets that kind of gas mileage may be a bit cramped. Said rental car is unlikely to have 4WD and I-80 over Donner Pass in California may have chain requirements as late as June. Regardless, you should carry chains, even if you choose to drive your Jeep. http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/traffops/trucks/trucksize/chains.htm Taking the train may be possible alternative. I don't know how many didges you plan to carry, but, unlike the airlines, on the train you're responsible for most of the luggage handling so your didges are muchh more likely to arrive intact. Just curious, is this the Apr 21 Hawk Hill concert you're referring to? I'd love to attend, but without winning the lotto, there's no way. :) Lori > Hello Everyone, > > This list has been so very quiet as of late, myself included. Everything dies. I ran the servers at my house through Comcast. (my cable TV internet provider) They do not want me running any "servers" on their network connection because they use too much bandwidth. I have no other internet providers available that provide reasonable service at a price I can afford. My account has already been flagged as an "abuse" and if I continue to run it, I will lose the only service I can afford. It would seem that even "transmitting" radio from here to a relay server would be a violation, so the only option would be a service that would also host the music player. I am not in any financial position to buy another service. The internet radio station and list server generate no income to support them. My only option was to shut them down. I hope my explanation makes sense. -jm John Madill Joyous Noise Music http://www.joyousnoise.com -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
