I've been playing with a band called "Trouz Bras" - we perform the Celtic dance music from Brittany (in northwestern France). I've listened to "Brain Massage II" and it does more than pick up where BM #1 left off. It takes "quirky" to a new level -- like using a cat purr as a rhythm section. Lots of us know about Per's encounter with the male mule deer "Biggie." "Biggie's Story" is my favorite on the CD. Its hymn-like quality bespeaks Per's regard and love for the magnificant animal. Per and Eileen share the didge duties and hand-off seamlessly. Tessalin Green hangs the melodic and ambient tapestry on which Per and Eileen weave didge texture and color. There are two reasons you need to get this CD: 1. Its excellent and does indeed massage your brain. 2. Per and Eileen are regarded as sort of the "mom and dad" of the USA didge community (which Ash Dargin once announced from the mainstage at a JT Fest a few years back). But most of all, Brain Massage II was created with love. And that shines through the entire CD. Here's a link to a thesis written this year regarding the didge and well being: A BRIDGE TO THE OTHER SIDE: A SERIES OF CASE STUDIES USING THE DIDJERIDU IN A JOURNEY TO WELL-BEING This paper is a series of six case studies shared as snapshots of ways in which the didjeridu functions as a bridge to a greater well-being for people and communities including: a review of ethnomusicological studies of traditional Aboriginal culture, where it is played in ceremonial contexts that express the local cosmology; a therapeutic practice known as "Didjeridu Resonance Therapy" (DRT), developed by a non-aboriginal didjeriduist named Michael Brosnan; the Florida State University Children's Happiness Integrative Music Project (CHIMP) to benefit children associated with autism; the Warren Wills United Methodist Camp praise worship services; interviews with current didjeridu players; and my personal journey of social, musical, and intellectual growth. The purpose is to give examples of cases where the didjeridu provides positive connection, communion, and progression through the meaning that is born within the context in which it is played. http://dscholarship.lib.fsu.edu/undergrad/253/ -- jp At 01:51 PM 6/27/2007, you wrote: >Hi, > >I am still out here too.
