I just finished writing a fairly long and well-worded response and then
absent-mindedly hit "delete" instead of send! UGH... hate it when that
happens!

First off, Tim, apologies for choosing the wrong vowel in your name :)!

My first order of business was to put out a request for soda cans on
Freecycle.org. One lady came through with 70 cans collected at her office!

I though that maybe Gorilla tape might be the way to hold together all the
cut-open cans. On a whim I tested hot glue. And it was THE ticket. It
practically welds aluminum together!

For building the structure, I had a few ideas. I made a "bell ring" first,
consisting of two long-ways folded opened/flattened cans. The fold opening
was upwards, into which I seated vertical slats. Then changed to rings for
structure integrity... another set of slats, the finished the length with
rings.

On the inside - two coats of fast curing resin and then two coats of
envirotex. The outside got two coats of envirotex. Aves apoxy sculpt mouth
piece. The thing has turned out very strong!

While building the didge at The Soundry, many artists stopped and asked me
if it would really play. LOL. It plays a b-natural, but has pretty low back
pressure. If I attempt another one of these, I'll try to correct that.
Perhaps a narrower bell.

The opening was a great success! John Morfit and his son stopped in and we
had a wonderful chat! Some of the other works there were stunning, thought
provoking, and some whimsical. I fell into the last of those categories.

the musical entertainment was a celtic-sounding band called "Kiva." They
had a didge player (also named Tim). He played an agave and a North
American hardwood of the aspen/poplar variety. Turned mouthpiece.

The demo on the caneridoo was well received. Lots of applause and cheers.

Yea... I lost about 60-odd lbs! Thanks for noticing. :)

Best to you and everyone!

(and now to hit "send" and NOT "delete....")

Karl
