That's great - there are plenty of $5 shows to see,
where the musicians aren't making any money.
I know I've personally played hundreds, if not
thousands of shows that all the fucking starving
students in the world could have attended.
When I was a student, I did whatever I had to
to see the shows I wanted to see - discount
or no discount. Life's more expensive now?
So what - it's more expensive for everybody.

Well, I know that's the general line on Woody Woodman,
but his real rationale is that in our capitalistic society, where
the only thing that truly assigns value is money, having
to pay a real amount for a ticket might just alert people
to the fact that, yes, this is a special experience.
And how much, really, is $25? It costs that much to
have an evening out at the Bottom of the Hill, or the
Great American, etc. And the fact of the matter is,
if some kid showed up to the Finger Palace without a
privileged attitude, and asked nicely, they'd probably
get in for nothing...
