[NewMusic] Braxton on FOX

Just got this link to a high school band playing Braxton's Comp.58 on 
FOX tv...

It's weird - like a repertory style performance, down to the trumpeter 
copping the concept of Wadada Leo Smith's solo on the original 
recording (though not even coming close to reproducing its beauty) 
instead of finding his own way into the music...

As much as I love the idea of kids playing this music, this approach is 
just too IAJE for my taste. Also, in this performance and how it is 
filmed there is the added stereotype reinforcement of experimental 
music as incomprehensible, with the band falling apart and camera 
close-ups of the bewildered kids.
