true only if you don't know what to listen to, which seems to be the
common thread amongst people condemning current rock as being "boring". i
find it hard to believe that sting actually has a clue about what's going
on in "current rock music". what a fogey. 

if you only listen to the mainstream, big fucking duh: yeah, it sucks. 

there's plenty of exciting rock music being made currently, but,
surprise, surprise, the media and the music business machine pay
absolutely no attention to it. 

it's extremely easy to get lost in the shuffle these days - there are one
million rock bands on the planet and i think that most people are
actually so jaded as a result of that factor, they wouldn't know good
stuff if it crawled up their butts anyhow.

rock and roll is a tool. good things and bad things can be made with the
tool. that is the responsibility of the user of the tool, not the tool
itself. it's a blank slate for whatever one puts into it. if one is
mediocre, chances are the outcome will be mediocre. just look at
mainstream american society . . .
