Just for the record, Partch's tuning is an unequal tuning, not an 
extension of ET- I think that's kinda the point.

An okay introduction, but a bit reductive and, from what I understand, 
the 1750 date for universal adoption of ET is pretty controversial. On 
the other hand, the audio files of Partch explaining things are 
classic, and following the link to virtual instruments page has 
explanations of each instrument and some sound clips from each one, 
although the "virtual instrument" is kinda bogus, although I guess it 
lets you hear the tuning on a couple of them. . .
