(Sorry to chime in late -- I've been off air for the last
day or two.)
Here's a short list of things:
1) As other people mentioned, Matthew Sperry's brief appearance brought me
up short. I'm gonna cry if I say anything more.
2) About half-way through I had a sudden feeling that nobody (least of all
me) knows how much I love everybody around here. Not surprising -- I'm
not a big emotion guy, either in Real Life or music. But I need to
remember there's only so far I should let that run.
3) Susan bough 7 copies of the DVD to send to relatives. She said,
"finally, I have something to explain just exactly what it is you do."
I've never been a fan of justification (though I like technical
explanations a lot), and, as we all know, characterizing what we do is
ludicrously hard to pin down. Noisy People uses the first rule of cinema,
"show, don't tell", and gets it straight. On the flip side, Tim's essay,
"Improvising a Musical Life", http://www.noisypeople.com/NP_essay.html,
does a tremendous job of telling what the movie shows.
