Thank you for the kind words Mr. Slusser! :)
i have not given up curating very exceptional musical
performances by any means. Just took it in a very
different direction, combining with my other career as
a chef to produce a dinner/concert series that happens
once or twice a month in private homes in the east
bay. Small, intimate performances with 4 course
gourmet vegan meals. We have sold out all but 2 of
these (usually 20 seats are available) in the first
year though i rarely see anyone from the new music
"scene" at these.
In the first year we presented: Yoshio Kurahashi,
Joelle Leandre, Jie Ma, Sinan Erdemsel, Frank
Gratkowski, Gianni Gebbia, Kaoru Kakizakai, Riley Lee,
Shay Black, Chris Caswell, Monique Buzzarte, and a
private event for friends and family of Matthew Sperry
that will become a yearly part of Matt's memorial
festival.
If anyone wants to be on the mailing list for these,
please contact me offlist.
Upcoming events on this series:
Saturday, September 22 Kyle Bruckman solo and Philip
Gelb/Jie Ma duet
Monday, October 8 Pauline Oliveros solo
Monday, October 22 Yoshio Kurahashi solo (one of the
greatest shakuhachi players of our time, visiting from
Kyoto)
lots of amazing performers from several counties
scheduled for later in the year and next!
My favorite series in the decade i have lived in the
bay area was certainly beanbenders!!
