maybe it's because i am one of those "part-time improvisers" (aka
clasical dork), or too monagamous or something, but i never was
interested in that -- as a performer and as a listener -- and in general
more interested in hearing
solos and long-standing groups than one-off groupings. although each
kind has its own attributes and am interested in both (just prefer the
former - and good thing because no one seems to asks me to
play with them anymore -boo hoo)

PG: I'm interested in all of it. I like hearing established groups and I
like what can happen in impromptu settings. I love hearing how people
deal with solo...in all cases, there are no guarantees - the established
group might have an off-night, and you walk away wondering why you left
the house. The impromptu group could really surprise you. I just don't
think there are any absolutes in this game...despite the genre/style of
the music.

If I have a free night, I'll go out and see what's going on. I'm almost
always happy I left the house and poked my head on the scene...unless I
run into Weasel and he calls me "normal", or I run into Alee Karim and
he calls me "grandpa PG"...

; )
