i find exactly the opposite most of the time. a lot of the time my
working groups seemed shackled by expectations!!! as these groups
develop, they often become codified to the point where a lot of things
are  and aren't acceptable. sometimes i find myself wanting the group to
be what "I want it to be" as opposed to letting it happen. 

the thing is, i don't come into one-nighters expecting anyone to be
catering to me - i look at it as a fresh situation to deal with someone
elses' language or concept.
