I would feel like something's not right if Phillip started using max
patches. I'm much more enthralled with the sounds he's making without
electronics, and that whole area of study. (Also shared by Kyle,
Damon, OtherMatt, Polly, Jacob and other improvisers on this list.)

As an electronic musician who's used to operating a few layers of
sound at a time, the challenge for me is finding ways to work in
groupings with acoustic live instruments. I've been working on being a
smaller part of a compound sound and trying very hard to contribute
elements other than the standard 'electronic fluff' that's usually
expected of us button pushers when we're in electronic/acoustic mixed
groups. For example, when I'm playing with a sax player, one of the
things I try to do is listen to how sonically complex his notes are,
and base how saturated my own sounds are on that.

Btw, I have Kristin's cd on the mp3 player as we speak.
