[NewMusic] Roscoe Mitchell at Mills

Roscoe Mitchell is just starting a 3-year stint at Mills in the
Darius Milhaud chair.  I've known about this for a few months,
and expected someone to mention it here, but no one has.  Here's
the press release, which is 6 weeks old:

In the sausage department: one of his pieces ("White Tiger Disguise" for
mezzo-soprano and string quintet) will be featured in a Mills Performing
Group concert on Sep 29, and he'll participate in an improv concert with
Chris Brown, Fred Frith, Zeena Parkins, William Winant, Pauline Oliveros,
and India Cooke on Nov 5.

I fondly remember the first time I saw him: a 1977 performance sitting in
with Musica Elettronica Viva in Toronto.  (That's also the only time I
ever saw MEV -- Teitelbaum on minimoog blew the roof off.)
