They aren't incompatible.  Just make sure you know what you're getting

Unlike (maybe) Goodheart, I don't claim it has to be that way! --  but 
when I experience a work that can be described as "transcendently 
beautiful", "life-altering" and "interactive",  I'll be more convinced.
