PG:

Well, I was there a bit early because I missed the rehearsal today due
to some nonsense at Kaiser with my mom, and wanted to check in early so
I could explore the charts. Thanks to Jon Ingle, who talked me through
the music. I played in the ensemble for a few years back in the late
1990's, so I understand Marco's composition/conducting process.

Everything listed that he would play duo and trio up from with Spirit
and Damon - at least that's what I read. I ran home quickly, because I
forgot my saxophone stand (I live less than 10 minutes away), and when I
got back, the large ensemble was playing. (That was probably 8:15...). I
felt foolish, to say the least, running in while the band was already
playing.

I had a good time playing Marco's music tonight. Steve Adams, Liz
Allbee, Jon Ingle and some other folks had some really fine passages
where they were playing over the quieter sections (Ingle may have
started quiet, but ended somewhere else - nice thematic and rhythmic
development in his improvisation). The whole bass and drum core was in
great shape and offered us quite a few different sound/density values to
work with. Marco was surprisingly quieter than I've ever heard him,
which made it hard in some of the passage where he was cueing by
presenting predetermined riffs.

I caught Signal Flow last night at Mills (Saturday), and was really
impressed by what I heard. I'm too tired to write about it, but I think
I will write something tomorrow if I have time.

We missed you Slusser! - Sorry the time mix up kept you from us.
