[NewMusic] Masterpieces Or Fakes? The Joyce Hatto Scandal

I think the funny thing about the whole thing is that no one would
have known if it weren't for iTunes. How does iTunes ID individual
CD Tracks? I would think it would read the ISRC code for the track,
which should've been easy to fake as well. They evidently put at
least a little bit of thought into faking the rest of it.

Even though he's talking about a dying person, which shouldn't be
funny, it's kinda funny reading Barrington-Coupe's confession. She
grunted during the recordings as her health failed, and he started by
replacing small pieces, then larger and larger pieces, as she either
grunted more and more, or he got carried away.

I've talked to someone who worked with Frank Sinatra at one point, and
evidently he would show up to the session, do a couple of takes, then
go home, and I suppose in the older days they were probably good
takes. In the later years, after he left, the label would barrage the
studio with every recording of a needed song he ever made and they
would paste in SYLLABLES to create a good performance, EQing and
DSPing appropriately, all unbeknownst to Frank, but at LEAST it was
from his own performances!
