That was the one of closest it ever came to an "all star" cast. That
band has always had a workshop/community thing going on. A lot of us,
myself included got many of our early experiences in that group,
something I had to consider when helping to assemble it. So a perfect
performance or ensemble is not exactly the idea.
The volume got out of hand, but I have had much, much worse experiences
in that group with one drummer (in particular). I also think some of
the horn players could have went for it a little more since it was
going there anyway. Marco, Jingle and Steve Adams all took some great
solos from what I could hear.
Still, Mr. Walter I am willing to bet any of those players would show
up and take your direction and I bet 21 grand would give you the gig.
That is the great thing about the Bay Area.
