We are saddened by the passing of violinist and composer Leroy  
Jenkins on Friday, February 23rd at the age of 74. We got to know  
Leroy well when Pi recorded him with The Revolutionary Ensemble, the  
band he co-led with bassist Sirone and percussionist Jerome Cooper.

Their 2004 recording And Now… marked the band’s first return to the  
studio after a 20 year hiatus and their only studio recording since  
the seminal The People’s Republic on A&M Records. And Now… continues  
to stand as one of Pi’s proudest achievements. You can read about the

remember Leroy not just as a unique, groundbreaking and  
uncompromising musician, known for his intense playing, but also as a  
teller of hilarious stories with an ever-present mischievous smile.  
He will be sorely missed.
