-Because in many cases it already has. The Double Bass for example has 
had nearly 400 years of innovations and improvements. Electricity has 
not really been one of them. I love my electric upright but my acoustic 
bass just works better and clearer and produces more interesting 
sounds.
Carbon Fiber bows and basses, metal strings and a host of other 
improvements have happened over time. The same goes for most 
instruments I suppose.
