there's this book made out of recycled plastic i got for christmas from my
brother who's an architect and really into design -- the pages and cover
are recycled plastic because the author is using it as an example of what we
can use instead of paper made from trees. the pages are just as thin as
paper and the text is crisp and the paper is white, it's an object that is
very pleasing to the eye and nice to touch, with the added bonus that you
can also take it to the beach or in the tub with you and it won't get
damaged (many of my books have water damage because of the tub).
it's called Cradle to Cradle by William McDonnaugh and it's all about where
reath friendly design is headed. the author talks about books being
replaced. he thinks books are too convenient to be completely replaced
because of their relationship to the human hand.

it's fun stuff!
