Was it the plastic sax or Ornette? Was it the wah wah petal or Jimi
Hendrix? Was it the tape recorder or Pierre Schaeffer? Was it the studio or
Lee Perry?

Was it finding it wherever you can find it a make the best use you can?
Does it challenge, intrigue, befuddle, enrage, encourage? Anything than
bore, depress, or be lazy.

After my last post about technology and how it affects creating at this
point brought many comments that were riffing on the binary it got me
thinking of the irony that the computer languages are based on binary
systems. There is still aways to go to match the male- female, binary world
we live in.

Today, or in theory? What about hybrid instruments that extend upon
traditional?

I've got a better one - how about acoustic musicians with extended
techniques that can "replace" electronic sounds?
