Funny you should say that. The last time George Lewis was in town, we
had a discussion on this topic, and in particular, we were talking about
this list. He feels, or is certain, I should say, that journalists used
to sling mud to bring more attention to an artist.  I'm not sure if he's
still on this list, but if you are George, would you care to comment?
