Well, the link says 19,900 for the house. . . The nearby Riverdale (26
mi. away) had 4.5 million tons of chemical toxins released in 2004, the
most polluted zip code in America. . . so it's more like you can play your
saxomophone until your tumor bursts and cuts off your windpipe. That is if
you can gather any breath through your inflamed asthmatic bronchial tubes.
. . of course it'll be a great place to raise kids, too!
Actually, the SF area was pretty desirable before hippies existed: the
San Francisco Rennaisance of the late 40's and early 50's had a great
literary scene with Robert Duncan, Allen Ginsburg, Lawrence Fehrlingetti,
Phillip K. Dick, Kenneth Rexroth, etc. etc. etc. The SF Tape Music Center
was founded in 1962, when Berio was meanwhile teaching at Mills.
Hell, for that matter by great-grandfather thought it was pretty great
when he arrived here by clipper ship in 1906 and stayed despite the
earthquake-
