I wasn't trying to be specific, but certainly that was
fresh in my mind. I only saw the first 10 minutes or
so of the set. They looked a bit on the younger side
and if this was their "road in" band then that is
fine, as long as they continue to develop. Lord knows
I was playing with barely tolerable technique when I
first started doing this shit. Hopefully their
audience will develop with them.

  I certainly won't look a gift

I was interested to hear what that duo sounded like,
but ultimately the prospect was not as compelling as
getting a good nights rest before work the next day.

Are these the hipsters Jacob

Not really. I was more making reference to the line
of fans screaming "Zorn, Zorn!" in Hadju's article who
seemed to be obliviuos to the rest of the scene. I
think that is why Zorn gets bashed so much. It's not
so much him, as the hipsters who think he is the
greatest, but if you asked them who Albert Ayler was
they'd scratch their head. When I was in school and
folks heard that I played Bass Clarinet they would say
"Wow, like Benny Maupin on Bitches Brew." Then I
would say "Eric Dolphy" and they would say "huh?".
Bitches Brew is a great record but that shit still
pisses me off. Same with Zorn.

It is intersting that folks will almost always accept
any kind of weird noise as long as it has a metered
rhythm behind it.
