Derk's in-studio guests are mostly alt-rockers, folkies, and the like 
(in keeping with his playlists).

But I recall hearing Carla Kihlstedt's 2 Foot Yard perform live on 
his program a few months ago. (Not exactly "New Music" but not in the 
middle of the mainstream, either.)
