Thanks Sara and the tip regarding shows is a good. I have in mine more of a
mass send of good reviews, articles regarding local musicians and so on. If
anyone has a good piece of writing send it along and I'll pester them for a
while.

I've decided to actually try sending these people source material, maybe
some articles posted on bayimprovisers, some other ones I have that I think
are good. Does anyone have any email address's for anyone listed below?
The staff writers follow the email convention of
firstname.lastname at eastbayexpress.com
thus follow said convention to reach:
Rachel Swan (who wrote the review of the show Jacob F. Heule played at 1510)
- she really likes hip-hop and has little background in experimental music;
she's not stupid, she's not the type to pretend she knows when she doesn't -
whether she's interested in learning more - I dunno.
Music Editor David Downs
- isn't particularly interested in music (he's more into the business and
cultural aspects, e.g. internet radio royalties) and has very little
background in anything other than mainstream pop/rock acts. To get David
Downs' interest - connect what you're doing to something he's familiar with
- we got a nice article from him when we had Golden Arm Trio and the other
12 bands last year, primarily because Graham from the Golden Arm Trio did
the music for the movie, A Scanner Darkly.
- Having an entertaining show title and/or witty/clever prose in one's press
release is helpful. We got a calendar pick for a new music show with a
number of recent Millsians back in April, I'm guessing, based on the ad hoc
title in the subject line of my p.r. which was "Dark (Satanic) Mills" ...
whether he's a big fan of William Blake or has the standard fondness for
things with the word "satan" in them, I can't say.
Jason Victor Serinus (writes classical/experimental critics picks and the
occasional longer piece) jserinus at planeteria.net
- strongly strongly advises people to send him stuff well in advance of show
dates and is the whistling guy at the Chapel of the Chimes summer
extravaganza.
