There's the Asian Art Museum in SF - they were doing a performance series
last year ... museums operate at a relatively glacial pace as far as
programming goes 

There's also Kearny Street Workshop, also in SF -
http://www.kearnystreet.org/ - they might know of funding sources for bring
artists over from Japan, even if they're not up for presenting it.

The "Japan Foundation Los Angeles" funded a Japanese-US sound art show at
The Lab in SF ... I know nothing about the particulars

if you don't hear from Suki about this, contact her ... she's been working
on a project w/Theater of Yugen that has Japan-ties
