I would think you would have very little chance of getting anything going in July. Any art museum (Asian Art), college performance series (Stanford, Cal, etc.) does the programing much further in advance and all their publicity is based on signing up stuff in time to be a part of that push (along with grants and donations). The SFJazz festival also does their booking at least a year in advance but seem more flexible with late adds and the like. They might be interested in general and they could present it as a world music type of thing. (Carlinhos Brown is performing at SFJazz in June and he isn't a jazz artist)

Yerba Buena Center for the Arts either rents out the space or fund raises well in advance for the couple events they sponsor.

hi there. i'm talking to keiji haino's booking person right now and she
wants to bring him to the west coast, but wants to present him on a
higher level than just doing a rock club gig.

does anyone have any ideas about fine arts/museum gigs (she said the moma
was clueless) or maybe with some sponsorship through a japanese/asian
based organization that i may not be familiar with?
