Hello foax,
This isn't really New Music territory (at least not
too much), but it's a fun gig that pays (very little).
I've been doing music with local theater company
Shotgun Players for a while (www.shotgunplayers.org),
and have been enlisted to compose music for their
outdoor summer show, a new adaptation of Three
Musketeers. I am seeking a string player (Violinist,
violist, cellist, or bassist, I'm flexible) to join in
this project. Depending on ability, I'm looking for
someone comfortable reading and improvising. I'll be
playing clarinet, bass clarinet, flute and melodica,
and the music will be very loosely influenced by
French baroque music, tango nuevo, and other, more
modern influences. The cast will also be working with
one or more of Pauline Oliveros' deep listening
pieces, which may end up influencing the score as
well.
You can hear bits of another score that I co-composed
on this week's episode of Spark. Eventually the
episode will be posted at
http://www.kqed.org/arts/spark/episode.jsp?eid=160112
The show runs Saturdays and Sunday afternoons from
late July to early September. If you are interested
and want more details, you can contact me offlist.
Also, I'll be at the Moe!Kestra rehearsal tonight.
I'm the clarinetist with the long orange hair.
Thanks in advance,
Chris Broderick
