uhmmmm.... sort of. i did this residency with butch morris a while
back. yup, it does cost money - however, if you're lacking in funds
they have scholarships and financial aid, if you need it. ala funding,
think about how much it costs to live for a month in the bay, even on
the most starvation sense of the word... then plan ahead and sublet
your place and you'll still probably end up with cash to spare come
bill week. not to mention that the aca includes 3 squares a day,
homecooked, some pretty choice facilities, is 10 miles from the beach
and you spend about 8 hours a day playing with new and interesting
folks under the direction of someone doing some pretty righteous shit
- even for the connections alone its probably worth the pricetag... oh
yeah, it's also 3 weeks away from the usual bay area neurosis.
so, yah, to stop ever so short of mindless promotion here, if this
seems like something that you'd want to do, then fucking quit
complaining bite the bullet and fucking apply. no residency is perfect
and all expenses paid unless you're of the level of success/monetary
means that you could actually pay for it (funny how that one works
out...) - for the rest of us, i guess we just have to deal and get
over it.
this public service announcement has been brought to you by the
letters e, l and some disgruntled furry kid up in the mountains.
