[NewMusic] RIP: Cecil Payne

I can't seem to find much info on the web about it, but the great baritone saxophonist Cecil Payne passed away like two days ago. 
   
  Among his many fine recordings, he played on that early Steve Lacy record, "The Straight Horn of Steve Lacy"....and boy does he sound great on those tunes by Cecil and Monk! 
   
  I just had to pull that one out and give it a spin.
   
  RIP...
