It's been my experience that sheet music stores are sorely  
lacking. . . it's been decimated by the internet revolution, so the  
physical browsing days are pretty much over. . .  I buy stuff from  
The Magic Flute in Terra Linda- no guarantee as to what they have in  
terms of contemporary music,  but depending on who's working, they  
can be good for ordering. . . also if you're a music teacher you get  
a %10 discount - www.themagicflute.net

In general, I've found for contemporary music it's better to browse  
through the Berkeley music library, and then order online.  This site  
also has a fair amount of stuff:  www.music44.com  and is a little  
cheaper than sheetmusicplus, though sometimes by only a few cents. . .
