>Matt D. threw down:
>I guess I'm a bit tired of the belief that every sound a musician
>makes is profound art.
in my music, i really began consciously getting away from anything resembling "profound" and embraced a more base animalistic, instinctual approach. in trying to honestly express myself through my art, i discovered what i really wanted to explore was how much i don't know and how powerful my most simple ego-driven desires were.
most people i encounter aren't so much profound as full of shit, and when i hear their music i hear bs. i crave honest art. that said, Greenlief's music, for example, is naturally honestly profound to me. i heard his music before i met him, but after meeting him i unsuprisingly find Greenlief to be a profound human being.

>And sometimes one gets to the other side of that gray area, and you
>realize that what you're listening to is pretty much sound garbage.
I tend to break music down to things i relate to and things i don't relate to (good and bad don't exist for me). i find i don't relate to a lot of humans so it's not suprising that i find i don't relate to a lot of music. i relate with Matt in the sense that I find myself to be more critical than a lot of other experimental musicians i come across.
