  ALSO: The Castro has been having a Bergman Festival - next week is the last showing (I think), which features The Virgin Spring (one of my all time faves) and Through A Glass Darkly, a deeply original film.

In July, Ingmar Bergman passed away and ever since I
have been devising plans to release an Ingmar Bergman
tribute CD on Praemedia. Of course, it is a cliché
idea and I had to wrestle with that a bit, but as a
small private gesture, I could not resist. It is
difficult to bring extra-musical influences into
music, so this is my small, simple way to point out
his influence.

I am inviting you to participate. There are no limits
on time or content. If you are interested, please
e-mail me for address. The deadline is March1st, 2008.
I am planning on releasing the CD on Bergman’s
birthday on July 14th.

This will be a private and limited affair. There will
probably only be 300 copies of the CD made as well as
putting the works out in some sort of digital form.
Anyone whose work is used on the CD will receive 10
copies of the finished product. If there are too many
submissions for my budget to afford, I will send a
copy of the CD to those who submitted their work, but
were not included as well, and I may put the excluded
tracks online as a separate dedication page.

Several artists have already shown interest and
Phillip Greenlief has kindly volunteered to write the
liner notes, so I am hoping this will be something
special for everyone involved.
