I think you have to be one of the rich greedy people to actually have a good
time.  A good time there requires a view of the world that none of us are
going to have, most of us being liberal, un-mainstream, anti-consumer
people.

If you're poor there, it's pretty depressing, even if you try to maintain
the proper sense of irony by sitting on the nickel slots waiting for the
drink lady to come around.

It's a great place to shoot video, though -- I always found that the airport
in the middle of the city and the garish jumbotrons and lights make for good
video especially if you saturate the shit out of it. I always liked the fake
fake fake oasis-ness of it in the middle of the beautiful and lonely desert
mountains. Good contrast.
