In case anybody is interested...
NEXMAP co-produced the first evening of the SF Electronic Music
Festival, so I think they'd be open-minded to composers on this list.

Sounding Out: A Recording Award for California Composers
Deadline: November 15, 2007, 5 pm
Download Application at www.nexmap.org
Northern California boasts a wide range of musical traditions ranging
from psychedelia, garage-punk, hip-hop, bluegrass, reggae, classical,
and more. How do these distinct aesthetic trajectories and
California's ethnic diversity inform contemporary experimental
electro-acoustic music? Embracing the notion of hybridity, Sounding
Out California is a NEXMAP initiative that fosters the production of
contemporary music.
Through its Call for Recorded Original Compositions, "Sounding Out 07"
invites three selected composers living and operating in California to
master an existing pre-recorded acoustic, electronic, or
electro-acoustic work ranging in duration from 5-20 minutes using the
facilities at Asphodel, Ltd's state of the art post-production
facilities located in San Francisco. "Sounding Out" seeks
submissions of cutting-edge innovative works by composers of all ages
and styles. All works will be judged on the basis of merit.
Submissions will be juried by Linda Bouchard (Director, NEXMAP), Naut
Humon (Co-Founder, Asphodel, Ltd., & Recombinant Media Labs (RML),
French composer Francis Dhomont, Guillermo Galindo (Curator, San
Francisco Electronic Music Festival).
The newly mastered piece will be released as part of a NEXMAP
compilation. The compilation will be released in Fall 2008 at an event
held at RML (San Francisco).
Award Recipients receive the following:
- One seminar for all composers as a group that will briefly explain
the art and techniques of mastering and review the technology
available to them at Asphodel.
- Two 3-hour private sessions with a professional technician/sound
engineer at Asphodel, Ltd
- A compilation CD including the works by the three selected
composers, to be produced by NEXMAP, released and distributed
internationally.
Submissions must be received by 5 pm, November 15, 2007 at the
following location:
NEXMAP: New Experimental Music, Art, Performance
3145 Geary Blvd #705,
San Francisco, CA 94118
Submissions must include the following:
- A Curriculum Vitae
- An artist's statement no longer than 1 page
- One or two audio samples no more than 20 minutes long each,
preferably shorter. No scores required.
- If you would like us to return your material, please enclose a
self-addressed, pre-stamped envelope.
- The signed and completed Application Form available at www.nexmap.org
