There's a new place called The Wulf, very DIY and charming, in a sort of 
warehouse space in the middle of nowhere in LA. I saw Devin Sarno and 
Nels Cline do a great duet there last month, they have a very diverse 
calendar. I don't think there are any regular events there but they'd be 
worth approaching for a booking.
