Matt,
I found a fix it page for this device you might not have found. Calling the tech support for Presonus is something that I would do as well. It sounds to me that you are having a software conflict with the hardware and it may be releated to the two programs you are using. You can sometimes figure out which software is in conflict by using msconfig.exe To to start\run and paste in msconfig.exe. You can turn off items here. Sometimes uninstalling both programs and reinstalling them one at a time helps. Before installing the other program completely update the prorgram and restart before installing the other one.
Also what service pack are you running on Windows XP? I recommend keeping up todate on critical updates. If you do it as they come out it is easier to see if the patch's have conflicted with an existing program and roll it back.

Another thing to check is the services that are running and the event viewer. Right click on my computer and select manage. This will have a tab with the services and event viewer as well as the device manager. Check the event veiwer for errors that are occurring around the time that the audio device craps out. You can use the event ID's to search for a solution on the web. Some programs automatically turn on services when the computers boots up. You can change items from automatic to manual or disable.
Let me know if this helps and we can get together sometime if you want me to take a look.

I'm only running one at a time. If one one doesn't work, sometimes I
try the other, but both act the same way. In fact, I installed Vegas
because I originally thought Audition was having problems.
