It's not that hard ... Find a white wall without much texture. Hang it.
Depending on the size of the painting, you could probably get away with
using some relatively cheap household lights.  The key is to do it at night,
when you aren't mixing daylight and electric light, because you'd end up
spending a bunch of time doing color correction.
