A dual CD party plus!
This Friday, September 21 at the Starry Plough, Splatter 3+N (formerly the Splatter Trio) and the Jon Raskin Quartet celebrate the release of their new Rastascan CDs.
Special guest opener from Athens, GA is Killick with Larry Ochs & Gino Robair. Visit Rastascan.com to read about the new CDs, or visit our Myspace pages ( just type jonraskin or splattertrio)
Okay, so what's in it for you? An evening of music you will never experience anywhere else, or ever again, in a pub-like setting with Guiness on tap!
Yes, the Splatter Trio is back (and Dave Barrett will be on stage with his stritch), with special guests in a large-ensemble setting that will combine free improv, driving rhythms, and maybe even an Ayler and Miles Davis cover. Along with Myles Boisen (custom doubleneck guitar/bass), Dave Barrett (sax), and Gino Robair (drums), Splatter 3+N includes some friends that will help kick this baby into high-impact groovyness: John Hanes (drums), Michaelle Goerlitz (perc), Len Paterson and John Shiurba (guitar), David Slusser (sax/elec), and Darren Johnston (trumpet/elec).
The Jon Raskin Quartet, of course, features Liz Allbee (trumpet), George Cremaschi (bass), and me (Gino Robair - drums). They're hot off the road and ready to lay down the skronk.
Killick plays his special bowed-stringed-extended-cello-thing that he used on his latest CD with the Shaking Ray Levis (visist www.myspace.com/iamkillick). He and Ochs will burn the place down.
Where: Starry Plough, 3101 Stattuck Ave, Berkeley.
When: Friday, September 21, 8:30 pm sharp
How much: $10 admission
Band order: Killick trio, Raskin quartet, Splatter Nonet. Easy, right?
Okay, full disclosure: Yes, I'm playing drums in all three bands. But hey, it's my bloody label and I'm on both CDs, and Killick wanted to do the trio, so cut me some slack! :-)
Hope to see you there!
