Born in Schenectady New York, Theresa Wong began her early studies in music with classical piano and cello. After completing a BS in product design at Stanford University, her curiosity and love for cultures and languages led her to study graphic design at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and to a one-year internship in 3-D design at Fabrica, a creative center in Treviso Italy. There, while living in the Venetian world of uncanny nocturnal silence, exquisitely fried olives and seasonally flooded palazzi, she began to meet artists who opened up a world where design, art and music could meet. Since returning to the Bay Area, she has performed with Meredith Monk, Gino Robair, Ava Mendoza, ROVA Saxophone Quartet, Maryclare Brzytwa, Bob Marsh and Joëlle Léandre, as well as musicians in Italy and France, where she recently gave a solo performance of cello, amplified bicycle and video works. Ms. Wong is currently pursuing a masters in performance at Mills College, for which she is preparing an improvised opera entitled “LOVE in 4 Acts” and a solo video performance piece, “Face.”
