Liz Meredith (b 1981) is a violist and composer originally from Baltimore, Maryland. Her most recent compositions/improvisations are electro-acoustic works that explore the more subtle and/or obscured characteristics of the viola. As a violist Liz has worked extensively with string-based rock groups including collaborations with Pamela Martinez (violin), Kristy Foye (cello), Monica Rodriguez (vocals) and Cooper Formant (guitar). Recent projects include improvised music with Satellite: Gudmundur Steini Gunnarsson (guitar) and Travis Johns (bass).
Liz received her B.M. from Berklee College of Music (Boston, M.A.) with a focus on viola performance/improvisation and composition. Currently Liz is working towards her M.A. in composition from Mills College (Oakland, C.A.). She is studying composition with Fred Frith and viola performance with Hank Dutt.
