Tana Sprague

For the last 8 years I have worked to create electronic and computer based music that is intended to transform perceptions of time, space, place, and scale. Within the last four years, my work has become increasingly intermedial in nature, and has been presented as installations, performances and "tape" pieces.

For me, the process of creating is never static and often evolves from the core of the concept or material I have chosen to examine. My approach is primarily intuitive, but may also incorporate real-time and non real-time generative processes that either directly inform the structure, or become the perceptual data itself.

I am most inspired by elegant complexity, as found in organic forms and phenomena, and devices and constructs that express, describe, and convey their functionality. I am drawn in by these micro details, and attempt to synthesize a similar immersive intricacy in my work.
